The earnings of the godly enhance their lives, but evil people squander their money on sin. Proverbs 10:16 (NLT2)

Here’s the lesson: Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home. Luke 16:9 (NLT2)

Those you help will be glad not only because of your generous gifts to themselves and to others, but they will praise God for this proof that your deeds are as good as your doctrine.  2 Corinthians 9:13 (TLB)

Did you know that statistics show that only 5% of Christian households give a tithe (10%) to their local church.  But tithing is just the beginning of how God wants us to use the wealth He pours into our lives.   Whether it is to support the local church, help a fellow Christian or influence a lost soul for Christ, giving financially is something God desires from all His Children.

There are two common themes in God's Word about giving.

1.  Those who give will be blessed by God, both in this world and in eternity.

2.  Those who don't give can bless ourselves in this world, but there is no reward from God either in this world or the next.

I have come to the conclusion that God blesses me more than I could ever bless myself in this world.   And even though I have no clue how the rewards will play out in eternity, whatever blessings await me will last a very, very long time.  I think I'll spend some money to advance God's kingdom today!
