In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He existed in the beginning with God.  God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.  The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.  John 1:1-5 (NLT2)

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14 (NLT2)

It's the story of you and it's the story of me.  The Word, who is clearly Jesus, has given all of us life.  We owe our existence to Him and Him alone.  From the first human to our present day people have experienced life.

I guess you have to experience life to experience darkness.  From the beginning, what happens to us when this life ends has remained a darkness.  But darkness doesn't only reside in death.  There is a darkness that accompanies life as well.  The inability to see beyond our circumstances is a form of darkness.  The selfishness that seeks to dominate each of us is a form of darkness.   But the greatest darkness for us while we live is when we can't see God.

And then the Word became human and made His home among us!   He brought us His life and His life brought us light!  Because life without light is not really life at all!  Now we can see beyond the grave to an eternity with God.  We can overcome our selfishness today by yielding to God's Spirit.  But most importantly, we can see God today, in the midst of our lives.   Jesus is here to shed light on our darkness.   No matter how dark your circumstances are, the darkness can't extinguish the light that is inside you... If Christ lives in you!   Let me encourage you to let Jesus light up your life today!
