No Man is an Island

Have you heard the saying, "No man is an island"?   For many years I looked at my relationship with God as very personal.   What I mean by that is, I felt my faith was between me and God and no one else.  I knew I needed God but felt no need for other Christians.   I didn't need anyone to tell me what to believe or how to behave.   As far as other Christians go, I had no desire to "meddle" in their relationship with God either.   In all of those years I never once sensed God's desire for me to be around His children.

From the moment I decided to follow Jesus all of that changed.  The very first thing I sensed God saying to me was that I needed to begin to seek Him with all my heart.   He told me I would find Him in His Word and in His people.   Essentially He was saying, "If you want Me, you need My people!"  

Knowing someone exists and that they love me isn't the same as living life together with them and sharing experiences together each and every day.  What I've discovered over the years is that my relationship with God is much more complete when I join Him in the lives of others and allow them to join Him in mine.    I truly know what it means to enjoy the companionship of those who love the Lord and have pure hearts.  So where am I today?  I think I'm going to "meddle" in someone's life today and let them know, through my actions, just how special they are to God... and to me!
